What we do

Three ways to work with FORMYQ

Custom Prototyping. Original Products. Production Partnerships.

01 — Print My Design

You have the file. We make the part.

Upload an STL, check dimensions in the browser, choose from everyday, engineering, flexible and fibre-filled materials, and request a quote reviewed by a person.

Upload Your STL →

02 — Design & Prototype

You have the idea. We engineer it.

CAD, enclosures, fit evaluation, design for additive manufacturing and iterative prototypes — scoped and priced separately from printing.

Request Custom Design →

03 — Business Manufacturing

You need parts, repeatedly.

Sample runs, approved part lists, PO references and repeat orders for small-batch production. Agreements are always mutually approved.

Upload & quote

Drop an STL. See it in 3D in seconds.

Your file opens instantly in the browser with dimensions in millimetres, unit checks and basic mesh analysis — then uploads privately while you choose material, colour and quantity. Every quote is reviewed and priced by a person.

  • ✓ STL (binary & ASCII) supported
  • ✓ Private storage, expiring download links
  • ✓ Units confirmation — STL files don't store units
  • 3MF, OBJ, STEP: send via quote request for manual review

Materials & capabilities

Honest materials, clearly explained

FORMYQ is an FDM studio. We tell you what each material is good at — and where it falls short.

Everyday

Easy, economical materials for prototypes, models and indoor parts.

  • PLAThe crisp, economical default for prototypes, models and indoor parts — but it softens in a hot car.
    • Low heat: Softens at relatively low temperatures (e.g. a car in summer).
    • Food contact: caution: Not certified food-safe as a printed part. Read the food-safety notes.
  • Matte PLAPLA with a low-sheen, layer-hiding finish for display pieces and product mock-ups.
    • Low heat: Softens at relatively low temperatures (e.g. a car in summer).
    • Food contact: caution: Not certified food-safe as a printed part. Read the food-safety notes.
  • PETGTougher, more heat- and moisture-tolerant than PLA — the practical choice for everyday functional parts.
    • Food contact: caution: Not certified food-safe as a printed part. Read the food-safety notes.

Engineering

Tougher, more heat- and chemical-resistant plastics for functional parts.

  • ABSClassic tough engineering plastic: handles heat better than PETG, sands and paints well, needs an enclosed chamber.
    • Heated chamber: Printed in the closed, actively heated chamber to avoid warping and cracking.
  • ASAABS-like toughness with much better UV and weather resistance — our go-to for outdoor parts.
    • Outdoor / UV: Better UV and weather resistance than most FDM plastics.
    • Heated chamber: Printed in the closed, actively heated chamber to avoid warping and cracking.
  • PCPolycarbonate: tough, stiff and heat-resistant for demanding functional parts — sensitive to sharp corners and notches.
    • Heat resistant: Holds its shape at higher temperatures than everyday plastics — see the guide for ranges.
    • High strength: Among the stronger FDM materials (relative rating).
    • Heated chamber: Printed in the closed, actively heated chamber to avoid warping and cracking.
  • PC/ABSA polycarbonate–ABS blend: tougher and more heat tolerant than ABS, easier to print than pure PC.
    • High strength: Among the stronger FDM materials (relative rating).
    • Heated chamber: Printed in the closed, actively heated chamber to avoid warping and cracking.
    • Dried before printing: Absorbs moisture; filament is dried before every print.
  • Nylon (PA)Nylon: exceptionally tough, wear- and chemical-resistant — ideal for gears, hinges and clips. Very moisture-sensitive.
    • High strength: Among the stronger FDM materials (relative rating).
    • Dried before printing: Absorbs moisture; filament is dried before every print.

Flexible

Rubber-like materials for grips, seals, bumpers and anything that must bend.

  • TPU 95ARubber-like and extremely tough: grips, bumpers, gaskets, cases and anything that must flex.
    • Flexible: Bends and recovers; rubber-like.
    • Food contact: caution: Not certified food-safe as a printed part. Read the food-safety notes.
    • Dried before printing: Absorbs moisture; filament is dried before every print.
  • PEBA 95AA lighter, springier flexible than TPU with excellent energy return — for cushioning and high-rebound parts.
    • Flexible: Bends and recovers; rubber-like.
    • Food contact: caution: Not certified food-safe as a printed part. Read the food-safety notes.
    • Dried before printing: Absorbs moisture; filament is dried before every print.

Composite / Fibre

Fibre-filled materials for stiffness, dimensional stability and heat resistance.

  • PLA-CFCarbon-fibre-filled PLA: very stiff with a premium matte finish, but no more heat-resistant than PLA.
    • Low heat: Softens at relatively low temperatures (e.g. a car in summer).
    • Hardened nozzle: Abrasive: printed with a hardened-steel nozzle.
    • Dried before printing: Absorbs moisture; filament is dried before every print.
  • PETG-CFCarbon-fibre PETG: stiffer and more dimensionally stable than PETG, with a matte finish.
    • Hardened nozzle: Abrasive: printed with a hardened-steel nozzle.
    • Dried before printing: Absorbs moisture; filament is dried before every print.
  • ASA-CFCarbon-fibre ASA: stiff, heat-tolerant and UV-stable — for outdoor brackets and under-hood-adjacent parts.

FAQ

Common questions

What file formats can I upload?

STL (binary and ASCII) is supported today, with an in-browser viewer and automatic checks. If you have 3MF, OBJ, STEP or other CAD files, submit a quote request and attach a note — we review those manually while additional importers are being built.

Is my file private?

Yes. Files are stored in private storage, only you and FORMYQ staff responsible for your project can access them, and download links expire within seconds. We never publish your work in our portfolio without your written permission.

What units should my STL be in?

STL files do not store units. We assume millimetres and show the resulting dimensions so you can check them. If your part was modelled in inches, switch the unit setting before requesting a quote.

Which materials do you offer?

Everything we can print is listed in the Filament Buyer's Guide: everyday PLA and PETG, engineering materials like ASA, PC and nylon, flexible TPU, and carbon- or glass-fibre composites. Materials marked “on request” are sourced for your job, and each guide page explains what the material is good for and where it falls short.

Do you offer resin, CNC or metal printing?

Not at this time. FORMYQ is an FDM operation. If your part needs another process, we will tell you honestly rather than force a fit.

How is my quote priced?

Every quote is reviewed by a person. Price depends on material, size, print time, quantity, finishing, and any design work. You receive an itemised quote you can accept, reject or ask us to revise.

Ready when you are.

Upload a file for a reviewed quote, send us an idea to design, or talk to us about recurring production.
